  • Asbestos Awareness Training
    • This training is for Maintenance/Construction Technicians, Maintenance/Construction Supervisors, Custodial Workers, and Custodial Supervisors.
    • Training is first received on initial job assignment and refresher training is given annually.
    • Course Content Includes:

      • Exposure Control
      • Safe Work Practices
      • Notification and Emergency Response
  • ChemTrack
    • Chemical Inventory database training is provided as needed. Please contact Jimmy Rolufs Jr. , Senior Environmental Health Professional, at rolufsjd@mst.edu
  • General Laboratory Safety Training (GLST)
    • This training is required for all students and staff who work in a laboratory every two years.  Faculty are encourage to complete this training, but it is not required.
    • Environmental Health and Safety has developed a General Laboratory Safety Training (GLST) Program. This program is available online through Piller with the Health Safety Institute (HSI). The GLST can be viewed by logging in with your university sign on and password by clicking the GLST link above. 
    • General Lab Safety Training is comprised of a series of 15 to 30 minute modules. The training can be completed in multiple settings. Once a module is started, you will have 60 days to complete that module. The program will issue a certificate of completion after each module is finished.

  • Hazardous Waste Management
    • This training required for all faculty, staff, and students who generate hazardous waste.
    • The training is offered in a classroom setting once in the fall, and then on an as needed basis. Please contact Tony Hunt, Assistant Director of Environmental Health and Safety, at thunt@mst.edu for more information. 
  • Radiological Information
    • This training is for radiation workers and authorized users.
    • Training is provided on an as needed basis. Please contact Fadha Al Falahi, Health Physicist, at ahmedfs@mst.edu for more information.

  • Spill Prevention Control & Countermeasure (SPCC) Plan
    • This training is for SPCC tank inspectors and is required annually.
    • Course content includes:
      • How oil pollution occurs and why it is important to prevent.
      • The SPCC rule and what it requires of regulated facilities.
      • The facility SPCC Plan requirement.
      • Effective practices for operation and maintaining above-ground storage facilities and equipment.
      • Correct practices for oil transfer procedures.
      • Effective site security procedures.
      • Proper discharge procedure protocols for discovery and first response to an above-ground discharge spill.
