  • Walk in a well lighted, well traveled area, avoiding shortcuts.
  • Walk with a friend.
  • If you must walk alone, let a friend know the time you leave and the route you plan to take. Call them when you arrive.
  • Carry your keys between your fingers to use as a weapon if necessary.
  • Be alert of being followed by cars or pedestrians.
  • Walk on the side of the street facing oncoming traffic.
  • If you feel you are being followed, quickly walk to a public area.
  • Avoid doorways, bushes and alleys.

  1. If you see a light out on campus, or an area in which bushes are overgrown, call 341-4300 and report it.
  2. If anything out of the ordinary is going on around you, pick-up the nearest emergency-phone and report it.
  3. Get involved.
